Exhibiting in balmainspace this June is Byron Bay weaver Zimmi Forest. Zimmi’s works utilizes the earth’s natural resources in order to create beautiful sculptures, jewellery and baskets. With an emphasis on weaving, Zimmi showcases the versatility of raw materials and conveys her passion for sustainability and the environment.
Her process is holistic and labour intensive. Zimmi processes, weaves/constructs and on most occasions installs her own work. Her skills are based in basketry, carpentry, floristry, ceramics and welding.
Zimmi’s work has been exhibited in many nationally recognised exhibitions including; Sculpture by the Sea, Conrad Jupiters, The Blake Prize and Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award.
balmainspace invites you to join us on Thursday the 31st of May from 6-8pm for the opening night of his exhibition, as we celebrate this vivid body of work amongst friends and art lovers.
If you can’t make the opening night, then please come by during the week between 9am and 6pm, or on weekends between 10am and 12pm (including public holidays). This exhibition runs from Wednesday 30th May until Wednesday 13th June.
